Can anyone tell me what books were released at the 2010, 2008, and 2007 conventions. Also I need to know what book is currently being studied at the book study and which book is scheduled next. Thanks!

@factfinder
This is a win/lose situtation for the watchtower. They made there material readily availibe to millions but now that you no longer have to go to the hall to keep up on all the latest material, they made attending meetings unnecessary.

Does Genesis 19 condemn Homosexuality?
by brotherdan inthere are many "proof" texts that people (including jws) use to justify their rejection of anyone that is gay.
there are a few scriptures that you can pull up and try to make a case for show homosexuals why they are evil and wrong.. i've been researching more of these scriptures and i'm coming to some very different conclusions than many other christians hold, especially jws.
i wanted to talk about the first text used by many people to condemn homosexual behaviour.

This doesn't make much sense....how does Lot offering the men his virgin daughters make the story about same-sex orientation?
My point was the wicked act Lot was reffering to couldn't have been rape since he himself was willing to let his daughters be raped. Unless Lot considered himself wicked. The only thing he was not willing to let happen was a group of men have sex with two other men. I'll ask you if Lot was ok with raped(as indicated by him offering his daughters to be raped), what was the wicked act he didn't want the men to commit.
No they did not reject the daughters on account of them being women, they were there to abuse strangers.
That's just an assumption on your part. The story doesn't tell us why they rejected the women or why they targeted these two men in the first place. All we know is they came to have sex with two men and then rejected the idea of having sex with two women when offered. The story doesn't tell us why in either case but the most logical conclusion based on what the story tells us is because they were homosexuals.

Like all words in the Hebrew and Greek scriptures the context it is used in determines how it should be translated in English. The verses that follow the men's request to get to "know" the angels show that it was of a sexual nature.
6 Lot went out to the men at the entrance, shut the door after him, 7 and said, "I beg you, my brothers, do not act so wickedly. 8 ( H ) Behold, I have two daughters who have not known any man. Let me bring them out to you, and do to them as you please. Only do nothing to these men, for they have come under the shelter of my roof."(ESV)
First we see that them trying to get to know the angels was an action that was considered wicked to Lot. That doesn't sound like they were just trying to ask questions. The most conclusive proof however that getting to "know" in verse 5 is of a sexual nature is that in verse 8 Lot uses the same phrase for his daughters when he says "who have not known any man" which is to say they haven't had sex with any man.
Edited to add: I can't buy the argument that it was about the act of rape rather than homosexuality for two reasons. Lot offered up his two daughters to be raped, which shows the wicked act Lot was reffering to couldn't of been rape if he was ok with the idea of his own daughters being raped. Secondly the men rejected Lot's request of his daughters and continued to try to have sex with the men. All of this points to the wicked act being homosexuality rather than rape.

I hear what you guys are saying about going to clubs, meeting foreigners, or talking to people online to converse with native speakers but the only problem with that is unlike JWs they won't accept me as being one of them. They will see me as a foreigner as oppose to JWs who will see me as being one of their own. Which will make it a lot easier for me to make 'friends'.

After I get back in JW mode which should take a few weeks, I will only attend meetings once or twice a month. I think(although I'm not sure) there is a congregation in New York City in this language. I'll never go out in field service or join the theocratic ministry school. I already completed the Rosseta Stone and many other online programs and I feel in order for me to advance I need to converse naturally with native speakers.

Lol! Some very interesting comments. I think it's safe to say my experience with this organization wasn't as bad as most on here. I see I need to add some much needed clarity. It's not so much that the skill I'm looking to perfect isn't available in the secular world, it's just not possible to do where I live. I've been studying a language for a few years that very few people speak in the United States and virtually no one speaks in the Philadelphia area. I've recently found out however that once a year JWs have a convention in this language close to where I live. I plan on attending this convention to meet some 'friends' I can speak to on a regular basis, and maybe have someone to visit in the country of this particular language. The convention is usually in late Spring or early Summer so some time in the Spring I'll attend a local English congregation to get back in JW mode so I wont' raise any red flags at the convention or while having any contact with people I meet there.

No Aude it has nothing to do with a girl. I can't think of a way to explain it now without revealing too much information about myself because these are very unique circumstances. Let's just say I'll be rejoining the organization for about a year so I can develop a skill that isn't available to me in the secular world.

Hello everyone! I'll give some background information before I introduce myself. I faded from the organization three and a half years ago. I have no family members who are JWs and haven't thought about this religion at all over the past three and half years. The reason why I decided to join this site now is because I'll be returning to the organization this spring and I need to get up to date on all the JW lingo and new rules. Some info about me is that I'm a 25 year old single male who lives in Philadelphia,PA. I never pioneered or served at bethel like a lot of people on here, I actually stopped believing a lot of the JW doctrine shortly after I was baptized. I know your wondering if I don't believe JWs have the truth and I don't have any family members who are JWs why am I returning. It's a long story and I'll cover that in a future thread as I draw closer to the time of my return.
